Random Acts of Kindness

One of the many things I love about the #SPNFamily is its ability to come together in times of need, and to help each other out for so many reasons -- and sometimes, for no reason at all. I want to highlight this side of the fandom -- and am giving a prize away from @saintlov to help promote it.

Tell me your name, e-mail address (or Twitter handle), something kind someone has done for you -- and something kind you have done for someone else --  and you'll be entered to win "Fallen Angel Cas." Contest ends March 31.

Random act of kindness done for me

Amazing person is helping me deep clean the house. My mom died & I got almost all if her stuff with my fibromyalgia and my daughter with fibromyalgia & the emotional attachment you need someone else who can help you realize what's important & what as t you can live without

Random act of kindness done for someone else

We have a center for abused women & children. Both myself and daughter have collected stuffed animals & kept them immaculate. We donated the ones that don't look used or touched a lot to that shelter. Every young child needs something to hold onto that makes them feel safe.

Random act of kindness done for me

There are sooooo many random acts of Kindness that I’ve been soooo unbelievably fortunate to be the recipient of but 1 recent act that stands out in my mind, happened about a week & a half ago. I’m off on Permanent disability; due to a severe Nursing Work related back injury & my youngest son has severe Autism & has been very ill; since the end of January. I’m also a single Mother & $$$, is very tight @ Our House. I didn’t know that Stands; had a T-Shirt/Hoodie donation program, until about 2 weeks ago; when I saw it on Twitter; Re: their most recent SPN Hoodie designs. I sent a message; asking that if it was possible; I’d love to enter My name in, to be considered but I really didn’t expect to be chosen. No less than 2 days later, I saw that I had some new Twitter followers & noticed 1 new follower in particular, who was a fan of SPN & followed her back! She PM’d myself almost immediately & asked “Which 1 do You want?” I had NO idea, what She was talking about so She explained that She wanted to Pay for a T-Shirt or Hoodie, of My choice. I was sooo shocked, stunned & in tears; most grateful tears. I asked Her if there was any way, I could “Pay it forward” to herself as I am a Psychic Medium as well as, I am trying launch 2 businesses right now; including I design & make, all handmade, clothing, jewelry, pet accessories & all natural body products. However All this beyond kind Soul would say was:”I require nothing in return”!!!

Random act of kindness done for someone else

The RAK I’ve done is, because I’m a Psychic Medium; I am able to pass along Loving Messages to those who have lost someone they Love. Normally, I charge for the readings I do but, when it’s been someone who has lost a child or Baby suddenly (such as a Stillbirth); I get together with the surviving relative; to help answer any unanswered questions &/or to give these family members messages to help them start to begin to start the very long road to healing. Also, my old st son; has had many friends over the years, who have come from very difficult home lives. I’ve had many of them, stay @ our house, free of charge, feeding them & just being a “Mom” for them, that they’ve never really had before in their lives. These are just general examples of RAK but to be very honest; it is a proviso I live my Life daily with & make it a priority; no matter how small but to do @ the very least, 1 RAK every day! Thanks So much for offering this fantastic contest & opportunity to celebrate. Random Acts of Kindness! 😍😍😍

Random act of kindness done for me

My friends from twitter/gishwhes bought me and my daughter Saturday tickets and a Misha op so we could go to a con. It was amazing! I’ve told them thank you, but those words don’t really convey what it meant to me.

Random act of kindness done for someone else

I’ve always tried to do RaK even before I was in the fandom and had ever heard of Misha. I actually gave someone the shirt off my back once. It was cold out so I gave a homeless man my plaid flannel shirt and breakfast and $5. Over the years, I’ve done what I could to be kind to others. I’m in a bad place right now because of my health and my financial situation but I still try my hardest to do RaK when I can.

My sister/bff took me in and opened her house to me after only meeting her one time. She's kept me from becoming homeless. I'll never be able to repay her kindness.

Before my dad passed away last year, I read him The Man in the High Castle in Spanish. A book he'd always wanted to read. It was the best moment of my life with my dad. To know it made him happy is everything.

My uncle helping us fix our house so we can live safely when the weather gets bad. He's been such a big help since moving back from California.

Random act of kindness done for someone else

Being alive and helping as many people needing help as I can. I want to be able to help people even when they don't want it.

Random act of kindness done for me

Just before Christmas I went to the salon to get my first set of artificial nails because I was going on a vacation after Christmas and I was really excited because I was getting my first set of artificial nails. (I had been to Young previously according to my sister) . While there I struck up a conversation with a local business woman who was getting the same thing. She finished first and then after she left they told me that she had paid for my nails for Christmas (I was floored because we were both getting some super expensive sets). My nails lasted three weeks and I was constantly reminded of her kindness and now my family makes sure to visit her restaurant often because of her kindness.

This is going to sound really cliche but it's definitely a RaK. So, one day I was playing at a park and I was like, 11 and I had earned just enough money to get myself some ice cream from a shop that was across the street. As I was walking across the park I saw this girl crying, I think she was probably my age or younger. I asked what was wrong she told me how she had been at the park for hours and she was tired and hungry but her mom hadn't come to pick her up yet and she didn't know why. I, being the bleeding heart I am decided to go and get her ice cream (because hunger equals ice cream to my young mind) and I sat with her and played with her till her mom came. Turns out, (my mom and her mom.had a nice conversation after they both found out) that her mom was a single mother and had been called into work and had totally spaced thinking her older sister was going to pick her up. I ended up being good park friends with her. (Ya know, the typeof friend you know the name of and you play at the park with them but that's pretty much all you know). I actually miss her, her name was Amber and she was one of the funniest friends I ever had. I might try finding her on Facebook but IDK.

When I mentioned on Twitter that I couldn't attend David Haydn-Jones' Ketchacabra campaign because I lost my job and I'm about to undergo surgery, a member of the SPN familyDM me and told me I should choose something, she would pay the costs. I had not expected such a reaction and said that I would be surprised. Yesterday, she informed me that there are two packages on the way. The first arrived today - a shirt!!!!! I still don't know where to go with my feelings. Family don't end with the blood. Thank you @idonthaveaharp

To accept a person as he is, is actually quite simple. I try to treat people the way I would like to be treated. If I'm able to help, I'll help. Still, it's easier to write about what others did for someone than what you did for others. During Gishwhes, I donated two scholarships despite money problems. When an SPN family member needed money for new tires, I donated. When another member needed money for a dental treatment, I also donated. I donated grandniece for the treatment of Jim Beavers. Help does not always have to cost money: In our Facebook group (SPN - what else) I try with posts and comments to cheer up the people or to put a smile on his face. Likewise, I hold it with my Twitter and Instagram account. A rt does not hurt, costs nothing and can still help. I try my best - every day. But I received my greatest praise outside the social media and that of a transsexual client. My boss has represented her in court, so that the health insurance company will pay for the operation. Such a case is nerve wracking and after one of the many phone calls with her, I pointed out to my boss that she did not seem to be well and worried about her life. She later confessed that I had saved her life with this mindfulness. She really wanted to do something to herself.

Random act of kindness done for me

When I booked my first SPN Con travelling from UK to Toronto, I'd commented on the Facebook page for some first timer advise. A lady Kathy reached out to me and offered to meet up so that I wouldn't be on my own at the con. We became friends over the months leading up to the con and she then invited me to share accommodation with her and her friends and also offered to share a Jensen photo op and a Misha photo op with me. I just couldn't believe how kind and generous she was and it's something I'll never forget.

Not SPN related but it's the most recent. We are snowed in here in Scotland, and my brother who lives round the corner had left his wallet at work. He needed some money to buy food so I gave him my card to use to get some supplies from the local shop and I also gave him some food from my fridge and cupboard to keep him going. Not sure if this counts as RAoK as he is my family and obviously I would want to make sure that he is ok!!

Random act of kindness done for me

I have experienced a lot of RaK in my life, but the biggest I've received so far is my best friend paying for a trip to a Supernatural convention. She is accompanying me, but she's paying for the entire thing. My best friend is always doing such wonderful things for me. She's my biggest blessing.

Random act of kindness done for someone else

I try to always do RaK whenever I am able to - Last year, around September, I just got off work and was heading into Walmart to cash my paycheck. There was a storm approaching. As I left Walmart back to my car, I saw across the way, a homeless man with his dog, sleeping under a tree. His things were all in a shopping cart. I felt sad that he had to be out in the cold with a storm coming. So, I drove up the street to get some McDonald's for him to eat. I wanted him to have warm food. I then went into another store. I bought two dog bowls (one for food. one for water) I got dog food, Pop tarts, water (for the dog and his owner) and I got some other food items and a blanket. Afterwards, I went back, and he was gone. Probably walking his dog because all of his stuff was still there. So, I tied the bags/McDonald's bag closed and left them with his things along with a note that said "Be blessed".

The best acts of kindness that have been done for me have been anytime I’ve been at a con and strangers have been smiling & friendly to me. I have anxiety, PTSD & agoraphobia so those friendly smiles & kind words that keep me from slipping into panic are the best acts of kindness I could receive. It really doesn’t take a lot!

Random act of kindness done for someone else

For Orlando Con I made around 350 Wayward bracelets & gave them out for free to everyone I met. It was so fun to see how happy it made people to have a little momento that they didn’t have to pay for.

Random act of kindness done for me

When I lost my Dad, I had been staying with and taking care of him for 6 months. My best friend came from out of town for the funeral, and I was busy and overwhelmed. I had a dress for the funeral but no shoes. I did not even remember this until the day of, with a house full of people. I began to freak out only to have her come in with a pair brand new shoes that matched the dress. She had gone shopping for me without even telling me. It made me cry.

Once in the drive thru, I paid for food for the car behind me.

I always appreciate when someone contacts me and lets me know s/he was thinking of me. I received a message just the other day from a friend telling me that I was loved. It's so nice to hear.

Random act of kindness done for someone else

Recently, I read about a little girl who was recovering in a hospital in Oregon after being burned badly. Her parents asked for letters, preferably ones that included a fun fact about the area the sender lived in. Being from Pennsylvania, I wrote her about Punxsutawney Phil and Groundhog Day.

Random act of kindness done for me

My entire Vegas con was gifted by various SPN and Dark Hunter family members. I mentioned on one of Jodi's You Tube casts that my bucket list had one item-to attend a Supernatural convention. A couple of days latter she messaged me she had a gold ticket being gifted to me if I could arrange room and getting there. I quickly went into panic and then action mode. I tweeted what had happened and within hours my Dark Hunter family said no problem you are rooming with us. Such a loving, crazy bunch of ladies. I could eke out the airfare so it was a go. I messaged Jodi and she said Joey Dusty Wings was gifting me the ticket and would mail me the voucher. Imagine my great surprise when the voucher arrived and turned out to be a front row Gold Pass. Joey also included a voucher for a photo op with my favorite, David Haydn Jones. Life got in the way and I needed to use my airfare money for new glasses. One of my Dark Hunter friends suggested a Go Fund Me. I soon had my plane ticket in hand and was ready for the adventure. While at Vegas I met so many people who I had been tweeting with. Loved meeting and hanging out with the Vendor Squad. What a hoot. Erika Wolfe, who helps out Jason, drew me badges and a large version of Granny Goodwitch I used the larger one for my auto graphs. Everyone who saw it commented on it. The biggest surprise to me was that everyone, except J2, knew who Granny Goodwitch was. I tend to forget one is not really invisible on social media. I was gifted by several more folks with different things over the long weekend. The most surprising was given to me on Sunday when Joey presented me with a ticket for a J2M photo op. You could say I was a wee bit overwhelmed. Long story-short version. This old lady got to cross off her one and only bucket list item due to the kindness of so many folks in the SPN family. Goes to show how loving and supporting the Supernatural fandom is.

Random act of kindness done for someone else

While at Vegascon I was in the Vendor's room when I noticed a young lady crying off to the side. I went to her and asked if she was OK. She had just received news that her precious pet may have to be put down while she was attending the con. I stayed with her while she called her friends to come get her. I spoke with her for a while, gave her a hug and my card so she could contact me if she needed anything else. I never got her name but I did see her several times and she always spoke to me and thanked me for taking time to speak to her.

My parents bought me my first cosplay that I really wanted. It is not cheap so I planned to save for it and buy it later with my own money. But for no real reason they just bought it for me. This made me sooo happy. :)

Yesterday I helped my little sister with her homework for school. She is always glad when I explain her Maths or help her with a presentation.

A friend knew I had been having a hard time for a few days. Her & her daughter randomly brought me a delicious fancy coffee. It was so nice.

Random act of kindness done for someone else

I don't know if this is what you'd consider random, but my kids & I keep some granola bars, water bottles, and other things like ramen and canned stew in my car. When we see homeless people we will stop and offer them some items.
